Hi all, I'm having a problem with my Nokia N72 which I've just bought. I
keep getting "SIM Card Registration Failed" message popping up. The phone
was a sim free model so is not locked to any network, and I am able to make
and receive calls on it. I have tried three different SIM Cards (on Orange
and Virgin) but still have the same problem with them all, so don't think it
is a problem with the SIM's. I have also updated the Software to the latest
level from the Nokia website. I'm hoping someone has come across this
problem before and can offer a solution. Many thanks in advance.
Steve.

Yes I did buy it off ebay, from a company called "UK Fitness". Item Number
was 200045482927. I have checked with my Network and it is not reported as a
stolen phone. Do you know something then???

Well, here's what could've happened, with the likeliest in descending order:
1) Person's sold you it from ebay, got your cash, reported it 'barred'. (I'd
phone *all* networks to check this, some networks aren't very efficient at
checking if a phone is barred or not!)
2) "Sim-card registration failed" -->sim-card issue, try in another phone.
If it works then...
3) Phone software problem?
4) revert to answer 1)
Phones & Ebay aren't a good mix; I'd phone some other networks and check if
it was reported stolen, I'm afraid, to me, it looks that way currently from
what you've said.

Phones are fine off Ebay if you know where to look. I bought the exact phone
(N72), from the exact dealer on Ebay (UK FITNESS) last November, for a
Christmas present for my wife. And she's been very happy with it. Ebay is
probably one of the few places left to buy *Unbranded* phones. I bought my
N72 2 weeks ago, off Ebay, and am very happy with it! Of course, if the
networks did put all their branded **** on the phones, I'd just get one on
an upgrade!

And when it goes tits up you take it to a service centre only to be told
it's an Asia-Pacific phone and not covered on the warranty. Nice one.
You have been lucky, many others haven't.
