Yes, it does seem so. I've never been interested in maths for fun and
as you note the variables may well be too variable for the maths to be
much more than a guesstimate anyway?

Indeed .. that makes me feel less useless anyway ;-)

Hmm, I think I gave perfection up as a goal 5 mins into this exercise!
    FWIW I believe she's on T-Mob Everyone PAYG so that's a flat 12p voice
    and 10p texts.

Hmm, and there's something nice in the simplicity of PAYG re no
    contracts nor direct debit etc.

So like T-Mob Everyone then ..?

Hmm, I feel this way whenever I use any mobile, or phone for that
matter .. used CB / AR too long I guess. ;-)

    Yep ..

To be fair to her 'calls' are more generally to just let us know what
she is up to or book Daddycab etc. There are the calls to mates
confirming meets / time etc of course but she generally keeps them
    fairly short.

    >In which case
    >off-peak texts probably aren't so useful, particularly if 'off-peak' is
    >defined as after 7.30 or 8 in the evening.

No, nor off peak calls really (especially at those times as you say).

If she's at home she has her own NTL telephone line (and inter NTL
calls are free I believe and her NTL bill is ~£4/m) but she generally
*makes* calls via MSN / Skype. ;-)

Funnily I did buy a couple of Tesco PAYG SIM's a while back .. I might
dig them out and see if they are still alive. Am I right in thinking
    Tesco use T-Mob's net?

    All the best ..

Probably. Though maybe it's worth looking at the history anyway - often
people say 'oooh, and I want to be able to phone Uncle Freddy in Antarctica'
but then never actually do so, so speccing out from past usage might be more
    realistic than guessing aspirations.

That sounds a sensible starting point. Text costs are high, but if she's
spending 20 quid a month on texts then text bundles are going to be worth it
    and not expire unused.

    Yup, though it's also 15p for 0800/0845/0870 and even 0844/0871 - so I can
call most of the world for that price. (I've only asked Tesco directly
about one 0871 number, but the others I've called were also 15p AFAICS)

    > Hmm, I feel this way whenever I use any mobile, or phone for that

Indeed, me too. But then I didn't use the landline much in the days when
national calls were 10p/min (or more before 1pm?) so perhaps I'm spoilt

Nope, it's O2's network (900MHz mostly). Virgin and Fresh use T-Mob's.

Register the phone and they'll block it as soon as you notify them.

Point her at the web site and tell her to pick one.

    Then take it from there...

    Pass... in this thread in
    Message-ID: <[email protected]>
James Lewis suggested they were for PAYG so they'll probably apply to
Everyone... but they don't seem to show on the website. Try ringing t-mob
    to find out.

I think I've found a hint to them on T-Mobs web site but 'she who
manages our phones online' was distracted with the soaps stuff last
night so didn't look into it further.

'Ringing' .. hmmm, as in actually talking to someone on the phone ..
nah, no one does that any more right? They do! .. ok, I'll give it a
    try .. ;-)

www.t-mobile.co.uk/messaging and then click on text messaging for the
available bundles. I think they can be applied to any of the pay as you go
price plans; (however applying a text bundle on the 'text appeal' price plan
wouldnt be as good value as applying it to 'everyone')

So, do we just get a new T-Mob SIM on Everyone and apply the bundle to
    that?
