    I've just got a T-Mobile PCMCIA 3G data card for my laptop. I've
    noticed that jpgs are a lot more compressed when surfing. If I ctrl+f5
    the page, the JPGs load all nice again.

    I presume this is to save bandwidth, but at the moment, I'm unlikely to
    get near the bandwidth limit and I'm getting a bit fed up reloading pages.

    I assume it works by some proxy server somewhere compressing all the
    JPGs I request by default. I was wondering if anyone knows if there's
    any way to turn it off by changing some of the settings somewhere.

    There was a proxy in the gprs settings for the webnwalk phone i had,
    removing it sorted out a problem i had communicating with an exchange
    server, i dont know if it will solve yours....

    It's done by T-mobiles network, and you can't bypass it (that I know
    of).
