Anyone know if it's possible to turn off the message received alert on a
V800 please? Other than putting it in silent mode? Or, if that's not
possible, how/where to find the message received 'ringtone/sound file' so
that it can be replaced with something else, a ringtone containing no sound
(which I could make myself) or the little click for example? It's possible
to turn off the message alert, but not as far as I can see to turn of the
message received alert. Or am I missing something?

I see that someone else has a problem with the vibrating alert on a K750i
not going off for an alarm when in silent mode. My V800 vibrates for an
alarm or for an appointment in the calender. Rhetorical or real question if
anyone knows the answer - why do they make the setup and software so
different for phones of a similar brand and spec?!

Hi, thanks, I had almost given up on getting any replies. I realised after
I had posted that I hadn't explained myself well. You are absolutely right
about the sound which is made when *I* receive a message, there doesn't
seem any way to get at the files to change that. But at least I can turn
that sound off or just use the little click which is pretty unnoticeable to
others. Same with the ringtone, I can use something almost unnoticeable for
    that too.

The one that causes the difficulty is when someone else receives a text
that I have sent. Mobile signals are dodgy around here so it can sometimes
be hours until someone is in signal and receives their message. So if I
have sent a message and then need the phone to be quiet the only way to
avoid the sound, which is quite a loud ding -dong sort of tone, is to put
the phone into silent mode. Even the vibrating alert produces quite a buzz
which sometimes I would rather weren't produced! Or else I have to just
delete the sent message but then I don't have a way of knowing if it has
    ever been received!

So *that* is the tone I was asking about turning off. Or finding the
relevant file and deleting/replacing it. But I suspect that's not possible
    either - grr!

    Thanks again
    Holly
