I currently have a SE W800i from Orange which had no branding on it at all.
I'm expecting a k800i this week as an upgrade. I have read that Orange
brands this phone (eek!) and that they have removed the Blogger
functionality (one of the main reasons why I ordered the danmed thing)

Can anyone confirm how a Pay Monthly k800i will arrive from Orange (branded
or 'un') and if it is branded horribly, what's the best way to get it into a
    'clean' state,

    Thanks

I have a K800i from an Orange shop from the end of Feb.
It has Orange branding, in so far as there is an Orange Theme, orange
    startup/shutdown screens, screensaver, wallpaper.
The right-shortcut key is hard-coded to "Homescreen", but the
homescreen isn't like the one i've seen on other Orange phones (eg
    N70).
Left short-cut is for internet browser.

On the main menu, comparing against the phone demo at
    http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...e=pp&pid=10407

All the options on the demo are there on the Orange handset, however
the icons are different, and some are named differently and/or work
slightly differently too. For instance "PlayNow" on the online demo
seems to be replaced by Orange's own "Downloads" application.
over-the-air firmware updates aren't available on the Orange branded
    handset either.

The online-demo has no blog application showing, but I suspect it can
be downloaded and installed regardless of whether you've got an
    unbranded or orange branded handset.

Not sure what other differences there are, but having seen other
handsets get the "Orange" treatment, as far as I can tell, the K800i
    got off very lightly.

I also have a K800i Orange branded. None of the shortcut keys are hard-
coded. I have changed the shortcuts for up, down, left and right.

Sorry. I meant the button on the button on the right between the "c"
and "-" keys, not the joystick shortcuts
