Hi all,
I just got £111 cheques from OneStopPhoneShop for two phones I bought
at the end of 2006. (Hurrah for me etc...) (on £30/mth, 12 mth free)
Problem ?) for me is I wasn't expecting any yet. The first cashback
claim is after June 21st!
I noticed on the invoice that I was due an 'Autochequeback within 90
days'.
What's confused me is the invoice said 0.25 cashback after month 6, 8,
10, 12.
Anyone know how this works?
Do they send you the first chq then adjusted amounts after you send
your claims in?
I'm not complaining just a bit confused.
TIA

Many of their deals include an initial payout after 3 months without the
need to claim, with the remainder claimable after 6, 8, 10 & 12 months.
The amount of the auto payout varies according to the deal.
However, looking back in my archives (I keep records of all the deals
that have been listed on my site in case customers have any queries
after the info disppears from the retailer's site) it would seem that
it's common for OSPS to split a £360 cashback (12 months free on a
£30/month tariff) as a £111 auto payment after 3 months and four lots of
£62.25 claimable after 6, 8, 10 and 12 months.
Here's an example of just such a deal from Nov/Dec last year:
http://www.reestitmutton.co.uk/MOBIL...l.php?aid=5139
So you should have 4 claims to make and expect to receive £62.25 each time.
Are you sure that your invoice says 0.25 as opposed to 62.25?...Then
again, maybe the 0.25 is simply a percentage of the remaining cashback.

Thanks Reestit, that's a great help.
The invoices both say .25 but the only explanation is that in the
pre-printed leaflet which mentions nothing, that I can see, about an
'autochequeback'.
I was slightly worried I'd misunderstood something about the cashback
process and was about to mess up the rest of my claim.
(I got caught out by e2save a few months back and had to email the CPW
CEO to get it sorted)
But if you've heard of others getting this sort of arrangement then I
guess it's not unusual.

No problem - glad to have cleared up any misunderstandings for you.

I would go much further than that. It's not just a case of me hearing of
others getting this arrangement...I list full cashback schedules for all
deals listed on my site and every single 12 months free deal from OSPS
on a £30/month tariff that was added to the database after 31 October
(when OSPS changed their cashback schedules from 3 claims to 4 claims)
came with a £111 auto chequeback + 4 manual claims of £62.25 after 6, 8,
10 & 12 months.
It's pretty standard with E2Save and OSPS to have a portion paid
automatically after 2/3 months...the auto cashback payment varies in
size, depending on the total amount of cashback due. In fact, I
sometimes chuckle when I see auto-chequeback amounts listed on their
deals for as little as £1 - I think, "what on earth was the point of
that, then?".
The funny thing is...I've even corrected OSPS on the odd occasion when
they've got their cashback schedules wrong on their website (bless 'em)!

I've seen that, maybe all those binned £1 cheques add up for a nice
profit for e2save?

I have another theory, but it's more to do with the cynic inside of me
than any anecdotal evidence...I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't
bother sending them. Afterall, who in their right mind is going to waste
both time and money trying to contact the retailer to demand a cheque
for £1? You would look a right wally making a song and dance about it.
On the flip-side, however, E2Save/OSPS could be jeopardising their
cashflow by not paying it as it could be cited as breach of contract and
potentially used to extract the full cashback upfront via the small
claims court.
That said, the claimant would be risking the real possibility that he is
laughed out of court by a judge who sees his case as a wholly
disproportionate response given the sum of money involved. I doubt many
people would try it on for £1.
Just my two penn'orth

(Assuming the above isn't tongue in cheek) You're Welcome.
You would be surprised just how many people have emailed me in
desperation, having lost the details of their deal in the hope that I
can tell them what to insert on their claims voucher (some vouchers
require you to insert the amount that you are claiming). Equally, some
customers contact me unsure about whether the cheque they have just
received was for the correct amount.
Of course, I'm not so mealy-mouthed as to refuse someone information
purely on the grounds that their purchase wasn't made via an affiliate
link on my site. However, it goes without saying that if it's not in my
database I can't help. I currently only focus on the 5% of deals at the
value end of the market - anything up to 1500 contracts at any one time
out of approx 30,000 possible combinations of handset, tariff & retailer
out there.
Nonetheless, details of your deal are guaranteed to be in the database
if you purchased the contract via my site as, by definition, if it was
ever on my site, it will be kept in the database archive.
e.g. anyone who purchased a clearance D500 on Canary 30 (12 months) from
One Stop Phone Shop between 19/12/2006 and 28/12/2006 will have
purchased this particular deal:
http://www.reestitmutton.co.uk/MOBIL...l.php?aid=5139
Equally, I keep records of many of the old T&Cs so I can also provide
information for claimants who forgot to take a copy of the T&Cs off the
retailer's website at the time of purchase.
