There is a slight risk of revealing your IMEI either in a public forum or to
an online unlocker in that *potentially* the IMEI could be cloned.

You could use a downloadable calculator (there's one on the UselessInfo site
in my sig below), or use a cabled solution if you're completely paranoid
about it.
