Elderly deaf parent we're trying to provide some communication method
for, PAYG sim required with best value text charges or text package.
Appreciate any benefit of experience/knowledge to save hours of
trawling through the various websites.
Contract wouldn't be out of the question but we'd try to avoid if
possible in case she doesn't take to it.
TIA

T-Mobile pay as you go offers 3p texts to all networks if you change
to their "text appeal" price plan. (call 150 or 146 from the phone to
switch)
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobil...home_paygplans
O2 and Orange offer 300 free texts every time you top-up £10 which are
valid for a month- good offer but if they're not all used up after the
month then they're lost and the standard 10p a text rate applies until
you top-up again.
Vodafone is 10p a text unless you buy a text pack, however this is
more fuss and hassle especially as you mention an elderly person who
probably doesnt know much about mobile phones.
Therefore best bet would be T-Mobile (unless the signal with t-mobile
in the area is bad so might be worth checking first.) O2 and Orange a
possibility and vodafone, even though possibly the best network; not
really the most cost effective solution in my oppinion.
Hope this helps
