Thinking of buying this handset because I've never owned a Symbian
handset before, I'm on PAYG, and they're damned cheap. (£149 with
Virgin, although I think I might pay more for the sim free music edition.)

Some pepole have complained that the OS isn't very responsive though,
but others say its fine. (Typical internet contradictions (@_)
Somebody said you have to regularly transfer you pics, messages, etc.,
to the SD memory card in order to speed it up .. but isn't it possible
to configure _everything_ to be saved to the SD card by default?

Anybody here had experience with this handset?

Is it true I can also use it in the United States?

You can set pictures and messages to be saved to the memory card, but in my
opinion its better to save pictures to the memory card and messages to the
internal memory. Also if you're installing any apps to the phone, always
install to the internal memory, I've had speed problems installing different
    apps on the external memory.

I have a 3UK version of the N73 and after a few months rebranded it to a
generic version, which sped the phone up dramatically. I've now updated the
firmware twice since then and I must say the latest version is probably the
    best.

You can play almost any music or video file (I use Coreplayer), download
using torrents (SymTorrent), listen to FM Radio & Internet radio (RealPlayer
& LCG Jukebox), Remote record SKY+ (My personal fav), Record Calls
(LivePVR), Block Calls (Handy Blacklist), View & Edit Word/Excel/PPT files
    (QuickOffice), etc...

Check out my blog or website, I've listed a number of apps your can install
to the N73 to make it all that better.
