Okay, so I've got a Samsung U700 which is locked to the Vodaphone
network.
I want to unlock it so I can use SIM cards from other networks while
aborad.
Obviously I wouldn't want to pay for this 'service' and am looking for
a reliable source of unlock codes or software like I have used with my
Nokias in the past.
Can anyone help ?
TIA

Not sure about your specific phone, but in general, it's not possible to get
free (online) unlock codes for Samsung phones like you can with Nokias. You
will probably have to pay, either to have someone do it, or for some
software and/or cables.
How long have you had the phone with Vodafone? If it's more than 12 months,
they might unlock if for you FOC...?

According to another post in a 3G forum
http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?p=354920
The only way to unlock this phone is using an 'Easy Unlock Box' (EUB)
Or by using this website:
http://www.kulankendi.com/index2.php
It is a bit confusing, but it looks like it'll cost you 10 Euros, that only
about 7quid. Which seems reasonable... However, I think you have to install
some sort of client on your PC...(!)
** Disclaimer **: I know nothing whatsoever about the above website, and
make absolutely no guarantee that it will:
a) Work
b) Not rip you off
c) Not stuff you phone
d) Not send all your computer files and bank details to the Russian mafia...
