I am surprised that they are still doing this tbh and that they

Well, Orange tried to change it to three per day, but had to retract the
change when threatened with legal action by thousands of people
(invcluding me). They had said five per day forever.
At 10p per text, that's a value of nearly £200 per user per year, which
makes it worth taking to court over. So Orange can't really wriggle out
of it.
