I have just got my 3 USB PAYG Mobile Broadband Dongle, topped it up with £10
and surfing away! I will only use it every few months or so whilst away from
home. I know the credit expires after 30 days but what if I don't top up
again for several months? Does the SIM ever expire? I have also found that
if I put the SIM in a phone I can surf the internet and receive voice calls
and SMS - is it Ok to do this?

I suppose it would be a bit silly if 3 enforced the same 90 or 180 days
"activity" conditions on their "Mobile Broadband" access that might be
considered reasonable for phones, but their T's and C's are a bit vague.

Call them and find out, then post back here with the answer :-)

I would think it would be OK but outgoing voice call charges may be on a
different/higher rate than "Flat 12" if you had any extra credit left on the
card because if you do go over your limit it will get eaten up at the higher
    rate.

    BTW
I had a message from 3 CS in my inbox saying to send an SMS to 150 to find
out about free text messages but I never followed it up.

Anybody know anything about it ?

Thanks for emailing to let us know that you're happy with the pay as you go
    modem.

When you top up a cash credit, it doesn't have any expiry date. But when the
cash credit is converted an Add-on then it's valid for 30 days from the day
it comes into effect. And on a broadband account if cash credit is not
converted to a broadband Add-on then you'll be charged £1 per MB to access
    internet.

A pay as you go Sim card gets deactivated in two situations:

.. If there is no outgoing or incoming activity for more than 12 months
(Voice, Video, messaging or content) and
.. If you have not topped up for more than 12 months
