I nearly feel sorry for the dupes who bought the original iPhone - I wonder
how many are used as door stops now?

A few colleagues have them. Mind you, they were sold to them for £50
or £100 when the original owners bought their iPhone 3G, so they're
cetainly not door stops and sell for silly money on ebay.

£30/mo seems quite standard (and less than my n95 cost), but the
cartoon suggested that they wanted the most expensive package on a 2
year contract.

The original iphone is an excellent phone, and the 2.0 firmware update give
them a masssive boost. With mobileme and exchange support, the original
iphone is still a reasonable choice for anyone looking for a smart phone.

With an operating system that put the competition to shame. Windows
mobile/pocket? nokia symbian os? Are you having a laugh? Have used them both
extensively, and they dont hold a candle to the iphone OS.

And none of them match BlackBerry OS.
At least, not for any serious/business use anyway :-)

I find the v2 software is very good for exchange, it really works very very
well, as does mobileme*.
Gaz
*mobileme doesnt quite live up to its hype yet, but thats a matter of time.

Yeah I'm gutted that I sold my original iPhone on eBay for more than it cost
me to upgrade to the 3G version. I'm distraught that both the original and 3G
versions have been a joy to use and continue to get used far more than any
previous phone I have owned. I thank you for your concern at this difficult
time.

Just make sure you take your charger with you at all times, recently
went on a trip to Spain, a friend's iPhone3G had flattened its battery
within a few hours (it was switched off on the plane apart from a few
demo videos and trying to use the maps) he hadn't bought the charger as
he knew he had an old iPhone charger in his apartment - mistake - it
wouldn't charge using the "old" charger, meanwhile I didn't bother to
even take a charger as I knew my phone would last five days easily.

No Bluetooth. No Java. No Flash. No point.

Yes, a colleague has one of those and has to cart around a PowerMonkey
to keep it going ...
