I recently requested a PAC code from Orange (to start the family
migration to Asda), and when the paperwork turned up, I was surprised
that there were 2 numbers from the same contract on the PAC paperwork,
    both with the same code.

As I only wanted to transfer one of them at this stage (the other is my
ED50 on line2), there's no chance is there that PACing one out will in
some strange way terminate the other?

I might be missing something here.....but you're expecting to be able
to port line one away without losing line 2...?

    Ah, no.

There are 7 phones on the one contract; all OVP-Virgin, and one also has
ED50 on line 2. The one I'm porting out isn't the one that's got ED50 on
    line 2.

I may at some point PAC out the line 1 of the 2-line phone, but not
    right now.

If you port out line 1, then your line 2 will be automatically
    terminated.

Because line 2 cannot exist without a line 1!

The PAC you have been issued relates to your account, i.e. you could
port out all 8 numbers with that PAC.

So why did I get 2 PACs when I ported out both my Line 1 and 2 numbers..?

Orange did this to me once. I asked for a PAC for a specific number and the paperwork came through indicating the PAC was for all numbers on the account. Just another example of Orange being useless I'm afraid and just confirmed to me I was making the right decision to leave them.

Suggest you phone up and ask what tel number the PAC is valid for.

Because you had them on two separate accounts?

I had the same PAC for the 3 numbers on my O account back in 2006, I
remember thinking it was a bit strange, however all numbers ported out
fine (L2 before L1 and another SIM) as I had to quote the number I
wanted to port and the PAC to my new SP's.
