    Hi

When people call my mates mobile which is on Orange you get the standard
rining tone but with music in the background.

Anyone else experanced this or know how to stop it.

    Thanks.

Your mate pays (?) Orange for this service.

If (s)he doesn't want it, presumably (s)he should ask Orange to stop it.

No he does not pay then and does not want it either, Orange are confused
    regarding it.

It's called Orange Calling Tunes and can be set-up by calling 477 from
    the Orange phone.

The fact that you immediately recognised this, but Orange didn't when
Kev's mate called says an awful lot about the quality of their
    customer service.

Certainly does, what a wonderful earth breaking innovation from Orange!

It more than make up for the loss of Wildfire, Everyphone, Line2,
and a dozen other useless features.

I'm sorely tempted to rejoin Orange

Its a service called calling tunes. T-Mobile do it as well.

Only the person who's phone it is can stop it. On Orange they would dial
477 to access the service and select/de-select tunes.

The service hasn't yet been officially launched I don't think, sort of
quietly introduced. And since your mate would have had to (at some
point) dialled 477 to turn it on then it's reasonable to assume that
your mate knew about the service and how to control it.
