I don't think they'll become the norm as such, however for idiots
clambering for the latest toys that MUST HAVE IT NOW networks like
vodafone will be able to force them to have 24 month contracts if they
want the new toy badly enough, look at the storm, it's only free on a
£35 a month 24 month contract, or £40 a month on an 18 month contract.

A lot of those "types" of people will do the upgrade through loss/theft
insurance scams. It's been going on for years and stolen phones are
never deactivated and/or blocked.

Utter UTTER drivel. All insurance companies say it's a like for like
insurance, 90% of them now also say that if they don't have new stock
they can offer refurbished stock, it'd have to be a VERY old phone that
wasn't worth insuring anymore to get an "upgrade"

It has a high cost price.

They are routinely "blocked/de-activated" to use your terminology.

It so doesn't. It's far cheaper than the N96.

The N96 is only free on the same basis, i.e. £40 per month 24 month, so
the cost prices will be similar.
I never said the N96 was more or less expensive, just that the store
would have a high cost price.
