I'm afraid it is you who just doesn't get it. If you wonder why you don't get very far in life you should look at how quickly you have managed to abuse and alienate so many people on here.

The texts you have recieved are not abusive, neither are they harrassment or blackmail.
They are not threatening to cancel your phone. Your phone and the SIM are two completely seperate things. The phone you can shove up your arse for all Virgin, and in fact the rest of us care. It is the SIM Virgin will cancel if you don't comply with their terms and conditions.

Let's get a few things clear.
1. The messages you are getting from Virgin are not abusive.
2. Some of the messages you are posting on this newsgroup are abusive.
3. Virgin have every right to cut your service off if you don't make
chargeable calls.
4. Virgin do not have to bother to advise you that you are in danger of
being cut off. The other networks don't bother: they just disconnect
your sim.
5. You are an odious troll.

I presume that's only possible if the number hasn't been recycled. I think
you were just lucky. ;-)

Well said Iain. This guy is clearly at the very least an idiot and
perhaps a troll also. I'm sure the other mobile providers are poised
ready to pitch for his lucrative business!

I am payg and it is not unused. I have had this phone for about 4 years
and have only recently started getting these abusive and threatening texts
from VM.

Until the buyout from T-Mobile, although VM reserved the right to cut
off phones where no calls were made, they never did, not least becasue
that would have lost them a nice little income stream.
After the buyout, they said that thewy would implement that policy, but
they gave plenty of notice, and now they are sending advisory texts.
Seems exceptionally fair and reasonable to me. More than you'd get from
any of the other networks.
And I'm not an apologist for VM. I don't even use them.
You appear to be telling lies. Grow up and go away.

If u reckon Virgin Mobiles texts are abusive you should take a look at your
comments here, as I see it VM's 'abuse' pales into insignificance compared
to your attitude. You should also look up threatening in the dictionary, as
I see it VM are helping you out. If you know your phone has been used in the
last 365 days then disregard the text.
Why dont you go to another network, maybe O2 or Voda who only give you 6
months to maintain use of your phone and will cut you off and quarantine
your number withut warning, which, however, still would not be abusive or
threatening as its in the T&C's you agreed to when you made your first call.
I guess your the kind of guy who get terrible service all the time, as
people will treat you how u treat them and if your attitude in this NG is
anything to go by then I am glad I dont have to interact with you.

In news:[email protected],
John <[email protected]> typed, for some strange, unexplained reason:
: That's right I have received a second text off them stating,

: within the next thirty days we may cut it off".
:
: The first time I got one of these (about a month ago) I rang them on
: 789 and after their Indian representative was through with her lies
: she said she would mark the phone as in use or something to that
: effect.
:
: Ok so it's a low use phone, just a handful of texts per year but that
: doesn't give them the right to blackmail me in this way - I just
: received another harassing text off them today.
How exactly are they blackmailing you..? The conditions of use of all PAYG
phones, regardless of provider, state that you have to make a chargeable
call every so often, usually 180 days or even less, so if yours hasn't
been used for a year you're doing bloody well.
You agreed to the conditions when you bought the phone. Didn't you read
them..?

Are the text messages you are sending chargeable?
The current T&C state
"3.8 Keep talking! : You need to use our Services at least once within any
180 day period either by making a chargeable call or sending a text message.
If you don't we may suspend your access to the Services and disconnect you
from the Network. We don't really want to lose you as a customer so please
ensure you keep talking or texting!"
So if the messages you are sending are not chargeable, and you are not
making any chargeable calls for 180 days or more, they are within their
rights to disconnect the SIM from their network.
