Some mobile phone chargers, particularly an early "3" model was
supplied with a very short mains cable with overmoulded ends. It had a
standard 13-amp plug at one end and a "figure of 8" connector at the
other. It was about 8 inches long.

I should love to buy a few of these cables, anyone any ideas where I
    can get them?

At the risk of stating the obvious, why not just acquire standard
length leads and shorten them. This will surely be easier than
the effort required to find the specific item?

He probably wants to sell it on ebay as "new" or "original". Next we
will have requests for cardboard boxes and carrier bags.

It may be unusual or even illogical but I want them overmoulded at
both ends. I'm happy to put in the effort and happy to pay the money.
I just want to find someone who has them and is willing to sell.

You can buy figure-8 cable kits at maplins, i.e. a figure-8 cable (chop
to required length) and a plug.

Some Dell "travel" laptop PSUs come with a selection of cables (from
planes and cars to various mains) including a very short BS1363 to
IEC320 C7, I swapped it with the lead for my camera charger, much easier
to cart around in a gadget bag than the 2m version - but I can't see
anyone selling them, only custom manufacturers who wouldn't be
    interested in one-offs.
