Beware of Virgin Mobile. For their no-contract phones which you have to activate at least every 3 months with a top-off card, you often end up being cheated of time because of the way they add activation time. Time is added to the date of when you use the card rather than starting from the expiration date of the last card. For example, what happened to me was that I bought 2 cards hoping to add 6 months. But when I added them over 2 days, all that happened was that I got 3 months beyond the date I used the 2nd card rather than 3 months beyond the expiration date of the first. I felt ripped off. The only way to maximize activation time is to wait to the last minute before adding the next card which is very risky to me. "Tracfone", which does cost a little more, at least will add time after the current expiration date. Be aware of this before you buy their phone.

Re: Beware of No-Contract Virgin Mobile

Hi Donald. I am with Virgin Mobile Canada and so far I have been very happy with their service. I can call their customer service line anytime and they are always willing to help me if I need help for anything.

About the top up cards, I used to buy them when I needed to but it got to be a hassle so now I am on a montly plan, $30.00 per month, I get 100 daytime minutes and 1000 minutes evenings & weekends ( evenings start @ 7PM until 7 AM the next morning and of course from Friday @ 7 PM until Monday morning @ 7 AM.

I am also on a text plan ( for an oextra $ 3.00 per month I get 30 outgoing texts) of course I can cancel the text plan anytime I want to.

I wish Virgin would make their evening hours start @ 5 PM instead of 7 PM.

I understand your frustration but if you had read the terms of service and top off ruled you would have known about this. Next time read the fine print so you don't feel cheated as you do now. Its important to understand the TOS bc if they did something wrong they have to rectifiy it.

    I love my cellys
