How can you say you got a prepaid phone for 8.5 cents a minute?? Prepaid generally costs between $.25 a minute and $.35 a minute depending if you want to spend $100 or not on a stupid prepaid card!

Any pre-paid phones should be taken as face value. What you see is what you get. No one is gonna go out of their way if you aren't on going to sign a contract.

as far as service..since VirginMobile runs on the Sprint CDMA service, check to see how Sprint is in your area. I belive that on the Sprintpcs website, they link you to their towers in your neck of the woods.

I must admit that's a wierd thing to say on a cell phone forum site, but it's quite refreshing!! I only got a mobile cause it came as a deal that really suited my parents. So I got the spare freebie, and I hardly use it. I've told only a few people that I have it. It's a very "need to know" basis!!

Plus I hate simply conforming... had I done that, I would've had a phone 4 years ago. And I haven't even finished school yet...

    Thanks for that insight!!

I wouldn't ever purchase a mobile phone from any company that isn't at least as good as t-mobile. Even t-mobile I would have to think about for a while. It depends on what you are using it for also. If you don't mind droping almost every call then it wouldn't matter.

Umm, I'm dropping Virgin Mobile soon after being with them for a year and I'm getting a regular monthly plan that I'm sharing with my brother on Cingular pretty soon. On my Virgin phone, the call quality is baddd..the sound breaks up a lot and it studders for a second while you're talking during the call, ugh.

I looked at Verizon Wireless FreeUp recently, and its 35 cents for the first minute of each call, and 10 cents per minute after that. FreeUp is much better than Virgin Mobile in my opinion..

T-Mobile has a bigger better network than Sprint (what Virgin uses), Cingular has a bigger network than T-Mobile, and Verizon has the largest network out of any Wireless carrier, covering practically every square inch of the United States now. BUT there is a downside to Verizon, and that being its CDMA (just like Sprint/Virgin) technology. CDMA is ICKY. GSM is much much better in terms of call quality and technology.
