New Razr and I need help

I've just purchased the new razr and would like to assign a voice message so that the phone will dial that individual. When I tried to set it up today by using the manual, it would not accept the name when I tried to record it. THen I read somewhere in the manual that if the address and number were stored on the Sim card, that I could not set up the voice dialing. How do I know if my numbers are on my sim card and if so, How do I remove them so that I can set up voice dialing. Hope that this makes sense to someone and that I can get some help to solve the problem.
