Hello group,
Sorry if I am posting off-topic, this is my first post to the group!
I'm wondering if it is possible to reprogram Nokia mobile phones? I am
guessing that it must be possible (firmware upgrades and so on), using
datacables and special software. The question I have is what sort of
special software do I need, and what language would I need to use to program
the phone?
Basically, I have had a number of phones where it'll just hang, or it'll
power itself off, or it'll develop messages that cant be deleted, and I'm
wondering if this is a software fault. I have a fair amount of experience
in programming, and would enjoy the challenge of reprogramming the phone -
perhaps developing a better menu system, or increasing memory usage
efficiency thus increasing the amount of messages that can be stored. In my
opinion, there is no need for games, and the memory from this could be freed
up to store messages. This is what I intend to do.
Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

It's not that simple. All MCU & PPM packages are encryped. Up until now,
only DCT3 flash files have been decrypted, DCT4 is still a no-go area. Some
of the brightest minds in the industry (Saras etc.) have spent a very long
time trying to decrpt the flashes without success, but if you fancy a go,
help yourself.
You may be better off asking in a more technical forum
(http://beam.to/gsmforum is probably your best bet).
