My provider was AT&T, now Cingular. No contract, 650 minutes, Motorola phone. I am still on the AT&T side of Cingular. I am tempted to sign a one year contract with either Verizon or Cingular for a better network and a better phone. I have dropouts with my phone. Is GSM a better network? Am I TDMA? Advice? Thanks!

GSM is excellent. If you are still TDMA dump it an bring your number to Cingular. You can get a very nice phone and they just launch the Push To Talk walkie-talkie so you might look at those new phones when you do it. Pretty sweet

i love cingular, but look at the coverage. my parents' house is in a no gsm area, so my phone is useless back there. somewhat defeating the purpose of having cingular's no roaming fees.

if you travel/stay in rural areas, there's a chance you will not get coverage with cingular. check it out before you commit. but otherwise i'm sure you'll like cingular and their service.

I've had a few AT&T customers that were talked into migrating over to Cingular but could not get a signal where they lived or worked. So they had to go back to AT&T's TDMA network. So I would check it out first as well before switching.

Thanks to all. Now I'm thinking of switching to Verizon and an LG5200 phone.

For Verizon I like the LG VX8100, it has a lot of nice features. Megapixel camera, speakerphone, Bluetooth, and removable memory card slot. On Verizon's website you can get it for $99.99 which isn't too bad.
