I just bought a new $30 Li-Ion camera battery for $4.99 with free shipping
from Hong Kong via parcel post from these guys and looking around their
direct website I see various iPhone USB/Charging cables y'all may be
    interested in:

    http://shop.accessory4you.com/05-cha...eid=27&cp_id=2

Top rated by Ebay with protection and feedback at 99.7%.....

There's some really useful stuff in the thousands of pages of catalogue
online. I was also interested in the huge inventory of very reasonably
priced new key blanks and replacement cases for car remotes the damned
dealers want hundreds of dollars for....most interesting.

Well, Caveat Emptor....Ebay says they're legit for a long time.

Geez I hate paying American Retail for Chinese stuff I can buy 90% off
directly from China....I've yet to be screwed, either.

You may not be screwed but your country is. Your companies spend millions on
research and development and china just steals the designs and produces
    cheep and nasty copies.
Look at your rate of unemployment...If you buy goods from china, you are
supporting the jobs of that country whilst your children may not have a job
in the future. Just something to consider!

No Lsrry, you bought a $4.99 battery for $4.99 instead of buying the
    same battery for $30.

So, you have a Chinese iPhone made by slaves who are currently committing
    suicide, several this year already?

Everything Apple makes is Chinese, not American.

WTF are you *****ing at me about? If you buy anything Apple makes, you're
    buying CHINESE GOODS.

    **** off!

He may well have bought a cheap generic that doesn't measure up to the
    $30 battery.

That stuff is actually pretty expensive by Ebay standards. I got 5 wall
chargers from 5 different low ball Hong Kong sellers over the last few
months. None worked and it took them 3 weeks to get here. I got them all
refunded just to make them aware.

I tried two different cheap Hong Kong USB car chargers in the past few
weeks. One generated so much electrical noise the phone can't be used
on the charger. The other was better, but noise is still annoying. Both
    were pretty much crap.

Crap is crap, the world over.

Would be interesting to know if it's "Working As Designed Crap", or
    "QC-Failed Crap"?

I'm in the business of learning about everything, everyday I'm alive.
All lessons are good. They were about $2 each. I got refunded and got to
keep the chargers. Turns out they work fine on 2G and Ipods, just not my
3Gs. Sellers said they would contact their suppliers, so maybe I saved
    others?

Cheap batteries don't always live up to their promises. I've been bitten
by that on camera batteries. At first they work fine but after a couple
months of normal use, they'll sometimes take 30% of their as-new charge.
Another issue has been up-front lying about capacity.
