Hi,
I bought an S56 from AT&T Wireless off my buddy who recently went to
another carrier. I tried to activate the S56 at my local Cingular
store, and they say it won't work. Although I didn't see him do it, the
asst. manager walked said he tried putting a Cingular SIM card in the
S56 and it couldn't find the Cingular network.
Does the S56 really not work on the Cingular network? If so, why? Is
it missing a GSM frequency that Cingular uses?
If this is true, then I can only activate the S56 on an AT&T plan and
won't be able to take advantage of the combined AT&T/Cingular GSM
networks. I guess I was naively believing the AT&T/Cingular marketing
hype that claims their networks were converged.
thanks,
Jonathan

It's probably locked to ATTWS.

True, and better hurry, because those plans reportedly go away on Jan 1.

False. ATTWS subscribers have free roaming on Cingular.

They are: reciprocal free roaming.

Ok thanks for setting me straight. I managed to forget that the whole
"locking" issue would still be applicable.
