I see that under the spec sheet of the v300 that the phone includes a
pop3\smtp email client (as told everywhere including the Motorola website).
Unfortunately, there seems to be little or no instruction on how to
configure this feature. The only site I came across that mentioned this
configuration was an Italian website and I think something was lost in the
    translation.

So, does anyone know how to configure the email client on the phone?

    Per T-Mobile:
    Log into www.t-mobile/mytmobile/
click on the "My Email" link to add a mailbox for your cell phone
For POP & IMAP accounts, you will need the following onformation from your
    Internet Service Provider:
    Email Address
    Name of your mail server
    Server Type (POP or IMAP)
    User name
    Password

    That should do it.

Hmm, yes I was aware of that....but that isn't using the phone's built-in
email client. You need t-zones for the feature you are describing.

I did a bit more research and word has it that TMo has either disabled or
removed the v300's (the US version at least) built in email client. I think
TMo wants you to cough up the extra $5 a month for T-zones.

The v300 is a great phone, but I rather resent TMo taking out built-in
features of the phone in a bid to force people to pay extra. Not good - Ill
probably return the phone as a result.

I suppose unlocking the phone will re-enable this feature, but it will need
    a re-flashed firmware too?

BTW - since the phone runs Java, is there a java email client I can install
    on the v300 perhaps?

Maybe I misunderstood your message. I can send emails from my phone using
the built-in function. The email arrives at its destination with a from
address of [email protected] without using T-Zones.

I think what you described before wasn't using the built in functions of the
phone's email client. In other words, there should be no need to go to
tmobile.com to configure pop\imap access. It should be handled from within
    the phone's own client.
