Can anyone tell me what the green and the orange wires are for on the
SKN4922B wiring harness. I have just bought this and want to put it in my
    car.

    Re: Motorola SKN4922B

    Hi,

I have an OEM Motorola handsfree kit for my StarTac 7868W and the manual
lists the green wire as going to the ignition (this is so it turns the phone
on and off as you turn the car on and off). It lists the orange wire as not
used. (I suspect the orange wire might have been planned to be used to mute
a car stereo when a call is received but I have no confirmation of this.)

The red wire needs to be hooked as close as possible to the positive battery
terminal and the black to a good ground. This is so the phone will charge
    and power up properly.

    Hope this helps.

    Sincerely, Tom

Tom W. is right. Orange is the "mute" wire. It becomes grounded when the
phone is in use. If your vehicle's audio system allows, you can mute it
    when using the cellphone.
