Start-up company(in stealth mode) looking for beta testers to try out
a new service for your color phone. This is NOT a SPAM message or
solicitation for anything other than recruiting beta testers. You are
only required to have a color mobile phone with WAP service and a
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP PC. It's a very simple
service, primarily looking for feedback on quality, features, and ease
of use. Take's less than five minutes to try out, there is a short
web-based form to provide feedback. The first 25 people in each
country who join our beta test will get free use of service for one
year.

A number of interested people that read this newsgroup have signed up
for this beta test. They clearly feel this is appropriate. Sorry you
feel otherwise.

You make yourself and your company look very small and unprofessional by
responding to a flame trying to be righteous lol. And it IS spam, everyday
suckers are suckered into spam mail etc, that is why there is so much of it.

At least posting a web site where we would be able to get a backgroup on the
product or the company would be nice though. There are a lot of people that
spam and scam the newsgroups we cant tell who is legit, and who is not.

He doesn't know, or he's post at the bottom.

Best to avoid any form of advertising in newsgroups, genuine or not it's
the equivalent of standing at a bus stop placing leaflets in the hands
of people on the most part, don't want them.

Bottom posting is idiotic, especially when the thread is 100 messages long
and the whole thread is quoted. I was using usenet before there was a www,
and no one bottom posted then? Who the HELL decided that was the right way??
Quoting a relevant passage and posting below THAT is what was originally
intended, just like I've done here. If I have to scroll more than one page
to get to a post, it doesn't get read.

so clip the text.
Besides, if everyone bottom posts then the conversation is all in order and
someone can come along, see a post, be able to read from the OP all the way
to the latest post and be able to get up to speed on the topic faster. Also,
when it comes time to read the thread, everything is in order, since you
read down through the paragraph, then its natural for your eyes to continue
downward to the next paragraph, not to skip up past what you just read, then
read down again.
And honestly, I don't care how old you are. I'm sure you also hate TCP/IP,
and wish it was still ARPANET.
While we are on the topic of hating stuff that is dumb, I hate Flash, splash
screens, and Web sites with more Animated Gifs then the phone book has
numbers. I am paying good money for a fast internet connection so I can load
pages fast, not so I can load more crap on the pages, I just want the info,
not a little movie and little sounds for everything you move the mouse over.

Newsgroups have always been quote and snip. The snipping prevents the
scenario you outlined. It's astonishing than in all the time you say
you've been here, you haven't managed to realize that. Perhaps in
another few years...
Email is something different. There, top replies make sense...
especially when having a conversation with tech support.
