I had a look at this and liked it a lot.

I liked it a lot, right up to the point where I discovered it needs
    Windows 98 to run :-(

Is there an earlier version still around which will run in Win95?

    Hopeful,

Unfortunately we can't guarantee that Oxygen Phone Manager II will work
under Windows 95. But if you have Internet Explorer 5 or above installed,
you can check the trial version from our site. If it will work, the
    registered version will work also.

If you will have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact
    us.

    Best regards, Oleg Fyodorov.

I don't have IE5, but did download the trial version before I sent my
original post -- it doesn't run. I was hoping version 1.x might
still be available and able to run under Win95 -- most of the
enhancements listed for version 2 are irrelevant to me so it seems
likely that version 1 would suffice, if it will run.

Also I've downloaded the shareware version of Oxygen SMS Manager 1.1
-- this runs fine but the help file doesn't. I get told that I need
a newer version of HHCTRL.OXH. (The file opens eventually but links
in the right hand pane don't work.) Does this mean that IE5 is
necessary for viewing the help file, or simply that I I need to get
hold of a more up to date version of the OXH file? Anyone know?

I don't consider IE5 a safe piece of software to have on my PC and I
    don't intend to install it!

    Tim.

    Thank you for your request!

Yes, new IE is necessary. We recommend to download all latest Windows
updates from 'Windows update' server, so there would be no problems even in
    simple SMS Manager.

PS: The most of problems with software usually occur due to outdated our
buggy components of operating system, therefore we always recommend to our
respective customers to download the most latest updates from Windows Update
    site.

I think you should be able to run it with a couple of IEs files -
    you'll need the hhctrl.oxh, and probably a couple of other dlls;

do a web search, I'm sure there's something out there somewhere - I
seem to recall reading something years ago when an early version of
Autoroute needed IE4, but there was a way round it.

For the record though, IE5.5 seems very stable, runs fine, and above
all you don't need to install those awful shell "enhancements" that
    slow everything down.
