I'm new to Sprint and just got my Sanyo SCP-8100.
Was just wondering if there is any way to make the
browser stop running when you exit it or does it just
keep going tell you turn off the phone. I find it keeps
me from getting calls some times.

When you exit the browser, there will be a few seconds where the
arrows will still show up. You should be able to make or receive a
call within 5 seconds of signing off the browser. If you still see the
arrows as active, try hitting your back button. Should gray them out
    immediately.

I tried this and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Once I hit the back button when I was in the main screen
and the arrows went off the screen. I find the only way to really
be sure is to go into settings and disable vision. Do you have a
SCP-8100? I have two and they both seem to act the same way.
I also find that even after the arrows gray out they come back
after a few seconds for no reason. Could it be that Sprint is spying
    on me?

More likely you visited a website that downloaded spyware onto the phone.

    Checkout http://www.spywareonline.org/

to learn more. Spyware is the leading cause these days of problems on
    PCs.

I don't think so because I only had the phone for about an hour
before I noticed this problem. But how do you get spyware off a cell
phone anyway? It looks more like Sprints way of keeping you online
all the time. I don't know what that does for them because (I think)
its free for me with the Vision Package I have. The tech people I
talked to all say on the phones they have there is some kind of
sign off or exit on the browser menu and I have none.

Try turning off the 'location'. I think that may go though the data
streamline, and also, while the phone is provisioning, the arrows will
    light up.

I tried it and it didn't seem to matter. Even if the arrows gray out when
the phone is flipped open when I close the phone you can see them start
up again and when I try to call it goes strait to voice mail.

As to your first question, no I don't have an 8100. I do have a 5300
though. So, let me get this straight. You sign off the web, then the
arrows grey out, and then come back on again? I have never seen that
    happen on my 5300.

Why would you think that SPCS is spying on you?

I don't know. I'm new to Sprint. Yes, they gray out on the main screen and when you close
the phone you see them grayed out on the exterior screen and then they start back up and I
try to call the phone and it goes right to voice mail. If you open the phone back up they
are on again also. This happens 9 out of 10 times. Whats happens with yoyr 5300?

The arrows stay highlighted for just a bit after signing off, then go
gray ... I can make phone calls when they go to gray.

My phone does that too but then they just start back up again for no reason. Do yours ever
start back up without you doing anything? Oh yeah, I also noticed I can't get messages
either, and that's funny because I get them when Vision isn't even on. Why does it need to
    be on anyway?

It could, when it's accessing the towers, but I've never noticed it.

There are three different forms of messaging. Text Messages (TM) which
are one way messages, which are sent to the phone. One does not need
to access Vision to read those.

Then you have Short Mail, which you need to be on line to compose and
read. I don't play with that much. Then you get email notifications,
like a TM, and to read those emails, you need to access Vision.

Unlikely, what would they spy with?

Also, is there anything happening when the arrows come back on (i.e. are
you doing anything, running any programs, etc?). What about chat or IM
    sessions... are those still running?

I have an 8100, and several seconds after leaving the browser, the
arrows are still present but fade out (dormant mode) and I can make and
    receive calls just fine.

I was just kiding about the spy thing.

All I have to do is hit the WEB button let the main Vision page come up and then hit the
End button. I don't start any programs, no chat or IM sessions. When I het END and close
the phone the arrows fade out after a few seconds but start back up after a few more
seconds and keep doing that over and over. When the arrows are lit I can make calls but I
    can't receive calls or messages.
