I currently live in Michigan (USA) and I would like to call someone in Montreal (Canada). I have two at&t Motorola Go phones which are both unlimited calling as long as it is to at&t customers. If I send one of these phones to my friend in Canada can we both still talk unlimited? I am not sure if it will work because I know at&t is not available in Montreal and I am not sure about the coverage. Is there any other way I can call that long of distance without paying a fortune?
Thank You For Your Time.

Re: AT&T Go Phone
Mobile-to-mobile for the called party located in the United States works for calls from all destinations if AT&T Mobilty can determine the identity of the calling phone. There are two strikes against the party in Canada:
1. GoPhones do not work at all in Canada.
2. The calling party has to be in the United States for mobile-to-mobile to count for both outgoing calls and incoming calls.
GoPhones can only roam in Mexico.

Re: AT&T Go Phone
Only the GoPhone Pick your Plan service has any type of international coverage. Both GoPhone types do offer international calling, but only the one has the international coverage.
Mobile To Mobile calling is void when outside of the United States. It may be free for you, but not for the person in Canada. Also, in Canada, once they run out of airtime, you can't purchase the cards there.

Re: AT&T Go Phone
The only foreign country in which the GoPhone works is Mexico. This applies to both Pick Your Plan and Pay As You Go accounts:
Roaming in Mexico
Now you can use your GoPhone Pay As You Go or Pick Your Plan service when you travel to Mexico. - All voice calls made or received while roaming in Mexico will be charged 99 cents per minute.
- Daily access fee does not apply.
- You can also send text and instant messages for 50 cents per message, send picture, video, or voice messages for $1.30 per message, and browse the internet for 1.95¢ per kilobyte. Domestic rates apply when receiving messages in Mexico. A compatible phone is required.
- Customers on the Pay As You Go Unlimited Talk plan, won't be able to use any unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes while in Mexico.
- Mobile-to-mobile and Nights and Weekends minutes can't be used while in Mexico. Additionally, your usage only qualifies under Messaging packages, which you can use to receive text, instant or picture messages.
- To make an international call in Mexico, you'll need to use the international number format, which is a plus sign, followed by the country code, and then the phone number. On most GSM phones, you can get a plus sign by holding down the 0 key. Since the country code for the United States is 1, you would call the U.S. from Mexico by dialing "plus 1", then the area code and number. To make a local call in Mexico, dial the 10 digit number including the area code and local number.
- When roaming outside the U.S., most phones allow you to reach voice mail, by holding down the 1 key. If you are unable to reach voice mail this way, dial your own wireless number (inserting a +1 before the number) and press the * key during the voice mail greeting. You will need to know your voice mail password. Calls to voice mail when roaming internationally are billed at international roaming rates.
- To reach Automated Assistance or Customer Care while roaming in Mexico, you can call 611 from your wireless phone or +1(408)962-1025 from any landline phone.

Re: AT&T Go Phone
This will not work for one major reason. GoPHone does not roam internationly. So activatin it here and then sending it to your friend will not work, Activating it in Canada is not an option. And unless you have the World Connect feature( PYP only) it will be costly. M2M,Ulimited talk or Nights and Weekends will not cover these charges. But it doesnt realy matter because there is only a .10¢ diff between the world connect cost and the standard rate - .29¢-.19¢ So sorry.
