Re: do you drink
I know this from experience (I lost a family friend to drinking) and maybe I've been burned so it may come of like I'm being a mother hen (at least while Jeanie's away) but drinking that much in one day is just looking for a one way ticket to disaster. Now my Dad drinks every day, always after 5 NEVER before (religously I beleive) and seems to be in good health. And never a 5th 1/2 gallon or even close. I sound like I'm going off on a tangent but from what your saying (forgive me if I sound rude) your border line alcoholic. It sounds as though things at work have been getting rough and stress most likely has been high, but I found better things to occupy my time (punching bag helps me) and being that my Dad is pretty much a full blown alcoholic, I know it's just a matter of time before that reaches me. I'm pretty bad as it is, when I drink I don't like to stop, which to me is a bad thing. Anyway it's really in your hands, it's true what they say denile is the first step so you can't rely on yourself to say your an alcoholic but I'd listen to whatever your wife has to say. like you said She's been there from the start and stood behind you so she's most likely going to look out for your best intrest.

Yeah i drink also. I turned 21 a few months ago so I have been having fun. I usually have a mixed drink or 2 or more about 5 times a week. Not much of a beer or wine fan, just hard alcohol. Nothing tastes better than cereal then coconut rum. Sounds weird but is actually reall, really good.
Drinking meyers dark jamaican rum right now. Interesting but pleasurable flavor.

Re: do you drink
Griff, I agree 100%. Alcohol abuse is a crash course to disaster. For example: When I was 13, my father threw my family out onto the street on Christmas eve, my mother divorced him. I later found out (as I grew older), he abused her and had a sever drug addiction. My mother was (and still is, not so much now) an alcoholic. She drank to ease the pain, and got hooked. Back to my father. Two weeks after they divorced, we came back to get our belongings (or what could fit into a hotel room with us), and he was drunk. Being 13, I was young, but smart enough for my own good. I gave him the option... nobody else, alcohol or his family. He retired to his room and the all too familiar click of the can. I had my answer. In time I forgave him, me and my younger sister started to visit him, but he still drank, and I hated it. Eventually, I started to wake up more, see him for the mad that alcohol had turned him into. I grew distant and started to ignore him. The big thing was when I got a call from his landlord, asking where to send flowers to his "recently deseased only son". That moved on to screaming at him, which led to vandalisim, and eventually, a fist fight between us. Alcohol tears families apart... when abused. Nothing is wrong with a few drinks here and there, but too much isn't good. Everything in moderation.
Now, here's how his drinking has impacted me in the past while my parents were married. One night, he called the police and had my mother fasley arrested. She was put in jail for 6 months. Durning this time, I was 11 or 12... but I was roaming the streets at 1:00 in the morning with friends. I skipped school, stole, and was not the person to assoiate with. At 12! My father sent me out once, 2am, to get him cigarettes from my friends mother. Several times to borrow money from our landlord, and I can't even count how many times my great grandmother "passed away" and my father would send me to collect pitty money for his "travel to her funeral".
I spoke with my step father about a week ago and he told me about his grandmother... she was a major alcoholic, it killed her. Her final days were on a bed, couldn't even talk, only mumble and move slightly. Abuse from alcohol did this. That's why I fear for my mother... she abuses greatly. She got hooked when she was married to my father, abused and put into debt. She drank to forget, but in reality, she wasn't even masking the pain, just increasing it.
Joe, take my advice, slow down. Drinking is in no way bad... just too much is.

I drink Calpis....
As for alcohol, let's just say I was in the bar industry for many years, and since a large bit of me is german, and another chunk scottish, I seem to be able to hammer it down.
Though that is in the past. For a variety of reasons, I chose to stop drinking.FrostCS

What is Calpis?
My problem with drinking is that after my first sip my cheeks getting very rosy and my ears turn red => looks like I am embarrased. I really hate that part. Does that ever go away?
