The wife & I are nearing the end of our 2-year contract with Cingular & would like to upgrade our phones to the RAZR V-3 model. I contacted my local cingular store & was told I COULD do this for a charge of $199.99 per phone. I then went to BestBuy.com and found the exact same phone for $69.99. I called BestBuy's order line & was told I could open a new acct with them, but could not use my existing numbers. I reminded them of the FCC's Local Number Portability Mandate but it did no good, They still refuse to allow me to transfer my existing phone numbers. Since this seems like a violation of LNP to me I have filed a complaint with the FCC. Any thoughts out there?
Thanks, Phil

Best Buy doesnt do upgrades, their prices are for new activations, or new customers, since you are existing then you have to do it through cingular, or an authorized dealer that can do upgrades. The Local Number Portability Mandate is only from switching from one wireless carrier, to another, which isnt what you are doing, you are upgrading, so thats why. Good Luck finding the RAZR cheaper, im sure you can!

oh, and the black one should be that much, not the silver, the silver RAZR should be cheaper, so make sure you shop around before makin your final decision

about the # Portability yes Vidguy11 is right, but there is a way around it. once you finish your contract you can cancel cingular and switch to another carrier over the phone and tell them you dont need a phone. then 1-2 days later call bestbuy and sign up the 2 lines on a different name then the name you had with cingular before.
and about the two razrs. cingular has them both for the same price, and all cingular stores buy them both for the same price. the only way the silver one would be cheaper is if the raise the price on the black one, just b/c they can and its newer.

btw buy.com has the black razr with a bluetooth headset for free after rebate. here, but you have to be on top of the rebate b/c that is how they make their money.
