It's pointless since it is illegal anyway and can not be used in court.

The exemption is this, he said something in your voicemail or answering machine. The law enforcement is involved in it.

It must be a weird grey area, as, take for example, the beating of Rodney King some 15 years ago. It was video taped and that used as evidence, but naturally I'm sure the person who taped it didn't yell "hey you're on camera!". So I assume it's only admissable if a crime is being commited and it's caught on tape ?

If that's the case and he says something like "hey too bad I screwed you, learn for next time!" is that not an admission of illegal activity ?
That's different. That was recorded on video. That can be used in court. You can not use only audio recording.

If he goes in the store with a hidden camera and videotape the whole thing with audio, than yes, it can be used in court. In fact, he can record just the video and bring a tape recorder and record the audio. That will hold up in court.

From a legal standpoint, this will not be a "private" phone call. True, Rapmasta is a "private" citizen, but he is calling a public business. So, there is no assumption of privacy on the store owner's part.

I like the way you think Paul. But as far as the recording goes, No I don't need to record any conversation or anything like that. The problem has been solved, and the Moderator may close this thread if he wishes. Good day, thanks for all the help!

Re: You Could Cook an Egg on my Angered Forehead

I know, it's wierd, how audio recording is bad, but video recording is ok? Kinda stupid. And, how am I supposed to get any good intel if I tell him before I call, hey, watch ur mouth, I'm recording, then he aint' gonna say nuthing. But, as far as the situation goes, I'm taking my pc in today, and getting it back tomorrow morning, and I don't work tomorrow, so I can get everything up and running, and I'll let you know all bout it. Can't wait, spend over 700 on this new pc, hope it works right, and hope my USB problem gets solved. I'm reinstalling my OS just in case that might be the problem, and for compatibilty issues.

Re: You Could Cook an Egg on my Angered Forehead

Well, my computer was supposed to be done by Thursday, but he had ordered a new CPU just in case. So it was screwed up at UPS. Well, I got it this morning (Friday) and checked the hardware, i have my mobo, and in my Device Controller, it shows and says it is Dual core. And my external hard drive wasn't connecting, so after a few hours, I found the problem (the file system was labaled as Compaq something, so I changed it to NTFS and now it works! And my computer is in pieces now, using my old one, but when I get off work later, I'll get it up and running, and run some benchmarks and post them here.

Re: You Could Cook an Egg on my Angered Forehead

Well, I have it up and running. I had to reinstall my OS again, and now I finally got all the drivers working and am pleased with what I have done. Still have some customization to go, but other than that, it works, and it's fast. Still haven't taken the time to do benchmarks yet tho. But, the whole situation was a long, long one, and finally, it's over (for how long???!)
