the swivel is held together partly by a magnet, you might want to take that to a tmobile technition.. i dont want to see a thread on here by you, angry over a broken sidekick cause you tryed to fix it yourself.. i mean UNLESS you are experienced in this area, then sure go for it. but believe me, ive had my share of "oh hey i can fix this myself" .. the end results are ALWAYS tragic for me. that doesnt mean they will be for you too but its easier/safer to go to tmobile techs... Also, how long ago did u get ur sidekick? If under a year, i believe theres a warranty on the phone, that MIGHT cover the swivel.. did this happen out of no where, from normal wear and tear OR did u drop it or something like that??

either way, take it to tmobile, let them have a look at it and help u out!

The swivel is supposed to last through the entire year. It usually becomes ruined by non-sidekick users who try to flip open the keyboard like a book instead of letting the screen spin open. Physical damage can also cause this. If that's the case, the warranty is voided. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but T-Mobile's warranty only covers phones without any physical damage.

whoa, tmobile warranty only covers NON phsycial aspects of a broken sidekick? geez!! what about insurance? i pay 5.99 extra month to insure nothing will happen to my sidekickums<3!!

also, i must admit, i am one of the idiots who tryed flippin it open like a book when i first got it! then i decided to be patient, wait and read the "getting started manual" first, before i break anything and that would break my heart cause i had just gotten it!
but all worked out well, cause i figured it out hehe..

main question being, with the insurance i pay, does this cover pshsyical damage? other than water damage and such, i know that is not covered..

Physical damage is covered by the insurance $5.99 monthly.

You'll be happy to know that water damage is covered by the $5.99 monthly insurance. The deductible for a Sidekick II is $110. It may sound like a rip-off, but considering that the price of a replacement Sidekick II is $330, insurance is worth it.

Technical defects, without any physical damage, is covered by T-Mobile's limited warranty starting the day a device is first used and expires after 1 year.

Richie!! you just made my day! no, skratch that.. you just made my YEAR! wow im so happy to find this out, I never got a copy of what the insurance does and does not cover, but i know i jumped on the opportunity to get it when asked cause i know devices are not 100 percent reliable and are definately not UNBREAKABLE! anything can happen, even with the care i give my sidekick, accidents DO infact happen and id like to be sure i can have it fixed asap!

Its good to know a replacements only 110! That is definately NOT a rip off, the sidekick goes for 350!! Thats a DEAL! id pay 100 bucks anyday for it. I did pay 100 bucks for it to begin with.

Thanks, Richie.. Tmobile should promote you for all you do for them..do they know you help people even AFTER work on here???

Renee, no. They don't know. In fact, I think I'm not really supposed to be posting here. If I remember correctly, I had to sign paperwork that I think prohibited a T-Mobile employee from responding to online articles or something of that sort. I'm fuzzy on the details, it was about a year ago.

Before T-Mobile, I worked at an indirect store (authorized agent) that did not give a crap about what anyone did...so long as they sold lots of phones. I am very happy to have left that place, it was called "The Mobile Solution". The difference between where I work now and where I worked in 2004 (TMS, an authorized agent) is soooooooo huge.

Anyway, I enjoy posting here. With as much training I receive at work, I still find answers to things I'm unclear about here. I also get to read up on things the competition is doing. My manager told our staff today about a career development program that T-Mobile will launch. I'm ineligible though, because you can't have any corrective actions in the past 6 months. I received a corrective action in January, for not scoring a minimum of 98% on the Secret Shop.

Richie, thats stupid that they make you sign a paper that tells you that you cannot respond to online articles and such. Well, this isnt an ARTICLE, so, technically, your ok! =) hehe... no seriously though, i wouldnt worry about it, they cant tell you what NOT to do on YOUR time, when your NOT working. If anything your HELPING them more than they could ever know! They better appreciate someone like you working for them, not many people care about their jobs, especially AFTER work. Once your punched out and off the clock, most poeple dont want to bring work home with them and prefer NOT to talk, think or do anything work related. So your an A+ guy in my book!!

Mobile Solution sounds like a typical authorized agent. They dont care about ANYTHING except money! Im not sure if you read my post last week about what happend when i went to a Tmobile authorized agent here in Boston?! The guy tried ripping me off on bumpers, 30 dollars for 2!! He said that was a DEAL! I told him id be back i wanted to go pay my bill at a Tmobile down the street ( and check out the bumpers and prices there, but i didnt tell him that ) and he goes, well leave your money here and come back and pick your bumpers up. HAHA, YAH i might just do that. Thank GOD i didnt, he was trying to rip me off BIG TIME! I went to the tmobile down the street and bumpers were 6 for 15.00!!! 2 of each color! Needless to say, i NEVER went back to the authorized dealer and you wont be seeing me in ANY authorized dealer stores, EVER. If its not a Tmobile store, i aint spending my money there. The guy was a real creep, he kept trying to come up with ways to get me to give him my money. He was to desperate for a sale, so that turned me off and put a red flag up.
When someone is that DESPERATE for a sale, theres something wrong.. and i leave. ALWAYS..that goes for ANY store, not just authorized dealers... I dont know, maybe its just me but if someones saying, leave ur money here and come back for ur bumpers, that dont sound rite..and ON TOP OF IT, YOU DONT GET A RECEIPT AND THERE ARE NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES! that erked me, and turned me off EVEN more.. cause i said if i do leave my money here, do i get a receipt, and mainly, if something happens, and they break or something ( for example ) could i exchange them? He said NO..and NO receipts here.. everything is FINAL..so, that was BIG RED FLAG to me.. I was thinking about reporting that store.
He just wasnt professional. . .it got to the point where, he actually grabbed my sidekick OUT OF HAND and started pushin buttons, and i go what are u doing? he said im programming it so that you dont go into ROAM and so your net goes faster.. and i said NO DONT TOUCH ANYTHING, I JUST GOT IT AND I DONT WANT IT BROKEN OR ANYTHING, CAN I HAVE MY PHONE BACK? he goes, give me a second..and i go no, please, can i have my phone? and as im saying this, his eyes NEVER left my phone and he KEPT pushing buttons.. he could of been doing something that makes my bill go higher, for all i know! That store just turned me off completely.. I am thinking about reporting him and his store to a Tmobile.. You cant GRAB a customers phone out of their hand and startin messing with their settings and such.. and the reason he did that to begin with.. was because i asked him if sidekicks have ANALOG roam, like sprint phones do.. and he didnt answer me, just grabbed over the counter, and took my phone from my hand.. Didnt even say, here, can i check out your phone? ...

Thats my tragic story... my phone works fine, so i dont know.. i will have to wait until i get my next bill to make sure everythings ok!!!
