Well, I've been a Sprint customer for many years now, and never had
problems with dropped calls - not that I make too many calls, but the
calls I made, would complete without being dropped.
Now in the last week, every call I've made has been lost. "Signal
faded" message on my Sanyo 4900 (very good reception on this phone).
Anyone else in this area running into this problem?
This is really bad, since the cell phone is my only phone, and now I
think Sprint is something I can keep...

Re: Dropping calls like crazy around Boston?
are you on the North or South side of Boston or smack dab in the middle? I
live South and have no dropped calls (except for one VERY specific spot
around the Rt3N/Rt93N split). i have a friend who lives on the North side
(Saugus) and his phone seems to cut out about every 20 seconds (but only at
home) and his cell is his only phone as well....
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: Dropping calls like crazy around Boston?
Could be a tower has gone down with technical problems so your picking
up a more distant tower now. If that's the case they will likely fix
it within a couple of days. Or another possible scenario is a new
tower was recently added but the neighbor list wasn't programmed
correctly causing call handoffs to fail.

Re: Dropping calls like crazy around Boston?
Don't be so quick to rule out the phone. My first one, a touchpoint 1000 I
think it was would drop calls more and more often. When I upgraded the phone
it stopped until that phone (Samsung N400) crapped out after only eight
months and the next N400 after only five months. I know the Sanyos are good
phones though, I had an 8100 and now have the RL2000, which is the best
phone I ever owned.

This has been a common occurrence in the DC/Northern Virginia since
sprintpcs first came to the area.

Re: Dropping calls like crazy around Boston?
I have had sprint since 2001, very good coverage, but I have had more
dropped calls since the first of year then ever. I live south of Boston and
work in Boston.
My daughter has ATT and has the same issues. My son has 4900 and Sprint down
in PA, he replaced his phone and still has issues.
