I have a phone purchased through Cingular and am not renewing my contract
with them. I am wanting to use this same phone and open a Cricket account.
When I called they said they could activate the phone, but couldn't guarantee
    it would work.
What do I need to do make this phone work? I've read a little on this site
(Sim cards?) but am still lost. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanx

It *won't* work -- Cingular is GSM and Cricket is CDMA. Furthermore,
Cricket (like pretty much all other CDMA carriers) won't activate
phones not sold specifically for their network. Sell your Cingular
phone on eBay and use the proceeds to pay for a new Cricket phone.

It is usually much cheaper to purchase a phone on Ebay. Cricket can't
make much money on their service so they do tend to mark up their
    phones.
