I have always wondered when watching the news, after a bank robbery or a 7-11 type store hold up, why on earth they have cameras in the place that you can't get a decent image of the people that work in the place, let alone the person robbing the place?
I mean the images are grainy when blown up, but even when viewed at their native resolutions, you can't tell who the checker is, and they work there! Ok a 7-11 I can understand, but a bank? Come on you'd think that they would have the best, sharpest cams you can buy. I mean when toys can come with better cams than a lot of banks have, there is something not right happening.

i think the companies that actually put the time & money into their cameras already has established a preventative program. therefore, you see the videos from the 7-11's whose theft deterrant is cameras only.
case in point, i was in a Sears store security room back in the day, and watching the cameras in there was like watching b & w tv. you could read product labels in the aisles.
you better believe thought that the thieves know which stores are the easiest to rob. ever walk into a gas station and see the monitor behind the counter. if you can't see your own face clearly, chances are they can't on a criminal.Last edited by n1ckel5; 05-05-2006 at 01:28 PM.

I am a Loss Prevention rep. for a convenience store company in the U.S. & Canada. Most of our stores are owned by a Franchisee & so the quality of the video camera has a lot to do with how much $$ they are willing to shell out to buy a decent one. So, the stores who get hit the most will be more likely to buy a higher end video camera so they may be more likely to catch the criminals.
