Re: Pentium or AMD?
AMD hands down! Cheaper and more dependable. Went I went to school for computer electronics; AMD was the processor we all loved working with.

Re: Pentium or AMD?
I had 2 choices when i purchased components for my new computer, I could have purchased a Intel Core2Duo 7200 (2.53 MHz) or an AMD 6000+ (3.0 GHz) which was £18 cheaper. I chose the AMD as at the time i could get a mobo which i could upgrade to a Quad Core at any time necessary thus makes future upgrade opportunities better and more affordable.
However Intel are better, as they have a larger financial backing although the extra cost incurred in purchasing a similar model does not offer the benefit to cost ratio that makes it worth while
