This U3 smart drive was a headache to me,
untill I uninstalled the U3 crap and made it a jump drive.
It will work on some computers, but not others;
It wants to install & run programs on your PC;
It wants to sync with your PC.
I just want a jump drive.

Re: U3 smart drive problems
i'm gonna assume you have a sandisk cruzer 2gb? that's wht everyone has these days. u3 is supposedly native to the new vista os. it comes with readyboost, which is like external ram u can stick in via usb. since i'm running on vista, my flash drive has no problem. everytime you stick that flash drive in, it would automatically be recognized as a flash drive and give you some options. regardless what os you're running it should appear as a "usb mass storage device" i think** programs are already pre-installed onto the flash memory if you will. it's just a fancy program manager. there's no way you can get rid of it, even if your were to delete these folders and files you found that was already on the flash drive.
if you need some 1 on 1 help, shoot me an IM.
you have my snHey there!

Re: U3 smart drive problems
Yes, I have a sandisk cruzer 1GB and a 4GB,
they won't work on my emachines PC or laptop.
Both have XP OS.
I used a PC that it did work on and ran the launcher to remove the U3 from the 1GB.
It now works on anything..If you find this post helpful, click on bottom of each post: Like l Share

I HATE that U3 software. If is the biggest POS on the planet ! I'll NEVER buy another Sandisk USB drive again just for that exact reason.

Re: U3 smart drive problems
I thought the U3 was cool until they started this online backup stuff. It is really annoying, you have to register, then it backs up the drive online. I just wanted those darn messages to disapear. I have ruined 2 Sandisk drives on my vista machine. it tatally locked up the whole darn drive and Sandisk would not do anything about it. I like the design of the sandisk drives I just hope they stop putting all the extra junk on them.
