T-Mobile sims

i have a question will the T-Mobile sims work in any T-Mobile phone . like if you have a cheap gsm flip and take that sim and put in a gsm android and use wi-fi for data will this work had done this with boost- nextels had a i-1 but dont know how tmobiles sims work was perfectly happy with using wifi for data
