The Sprint employees and apologists always blame the firmware or the user. More
likely SprintPCS has oversold its network in your area, so your signal is weak,
regardless of what meter on phone may show.
Play their game, get all the updates, but ==> if <== the problem continues
(and this seems to be an ongoing issue posted here regularly), you end up with
three choices.
1. Live with it.
2. Go to SprintPCS store and insist they swap
you for a working phone, with no activation fee.
3. Leave Sprint, but write to your State Attorney General complaining that you
should not have to pay an Early Temrination Fee if your cell phone is not "Fit
for Purpose". That over rides any wishlist they stuck in your contract. Send a
certified copy to Sprint HQ. That always works.

You did huh? You keep posting the crap about "Live With It" and all that
other negative bull****. You deserve every attack you get for posts in this
and just about every other thread you have posted in. Go to Hell loser, you
have no welcome here.

Re: Sanyo 5300: Digital Roam
Following up on my own post...
I updated to Software flash 1.038SP and all appears well.
Digital Roam never appears when it shouldn't.
No new bugs have appeared...
But the Sprint Rep did say this level is 'fairly' new!
YMMV.
I would appreciate it, if follow-on post to this issue, stuck the to
TECHNICAL issues and not drift off into personalities, opinions,
'pot-shots', etc.
Otherwise, this forum will become useless for all!
Thanks!

I went into my Sprint store about a week ago. While I was playing with a
Treo 600 in the store (mine hadn't arrived yet and I really wanted some play
time!) I handed my Sanyo 5300 to one of the guys and asked him to do a PRL
update. A few minutes later he came back and told me that there was also a
new software upgrade available so I told him to go ahead and put it on (it
was, of course, 1.038SP). Then this week on Monday night I called in to
SprintPCS to add the Treo 600 to my account. While on the line they told me
that there was a new software release available; I told them I already had
it on my phone.
