    um

Dude, happy to try and help. Need more details.

    1. Budget (most important)
    2. Use? i.e.

sequencing &/ dvd playback &/ mp3 playback = will influence price of sound card and/or other music related hardware you might want to budget for

games = will influence graphics card, ram and processor speed

software = may take out some of your wedge

So what do you want to do with it bud? Mostly music or the whole package?

    Cheers, Ben

Are you looking to build your own or to buy a prebuilt system? Like bnj said, we need to know what your intensions are for and your budget. Those are the main factors in buying a computer.

Agree with above, I have converted to building my own. I use a company on the internet: Next International at nextinternational.com. I have had great experiences with knowledge base of sales and servcie.

They will also help suggest Mother boards etc., if you are unsure or don't have your heart set on something. I have no financial interest, I just have bought and built about 7 computers from this company and always had good results.

Yea, build your own. It will cost at lot less. Another question... do you want AMD or Intel based?

Alienware is over priced. You can build the same stuff yourself, for a lot cheaper.

My personal pick is Intel CPU, and if you want great stability (and not too many overclocking options) an Intel motherboard as well. Get a nice dual channel DDR mother board, and 2 sticks of 512mb PC3200 Geil memory. A middle of the line video card like the 9800 non-pro. Get the 8mb cache HD's too, they do make a difference.
