I have a motorola V180, that I just purchased on a current plan. I will be moving from NC to TX and would like to be able to use it there without having to purchase another phone. Can I take my phone to another provider in TX and use it with there service? I am using Suncom here on the east coast and they do not cover any other states but NC and SC. The V180 uses a sim card, so I figure I can just get a new one there as long as I use a provider that has GMS coverage right? And will my phone need to be unlocked? Thanks for any help.

    Leon

if i were you stay with your suncom. roaming and long distance call is free anyway to any service provider now. those people that gonna call you from nc, they charge local call if they using there land line, but those people from tx will charge long distance call if they call your cell. but if you want to change your service provider you need to unlock that phone in order to take a sim from diff service provider. check this site for unlocking www.cellularpager.com

Your phone will definetively need to be unlocked. Most providers lock the phones so people are forced to buy new ones.

    I love my cellys
