    Hello All,

I recently purchased an LG Shine from Telus and am having a problem with the way the music player indexes files.

While many of the files are correctly indexed into artists and albums, a number of songs from some of the albums are not listed within the album. The songs still appear in the library, but only under "songs". These songs that fall into this category also seem to be lacking artist and album information, and are all listed with a number in front of their name.

The reason that this is so confusing is that all songs were ripped from the same CDs at the same time using the same method, yet some are indexed correctly and some aren't.

The songs were all ripped using itunes into ACC format. They were put into the "my_music" directory of the micro SD card using the itunes directory format (Artist -> Album -> song files).

Has anyone seen this problem before? Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Thanks for reading.

Are you using a data cable?

No. I'm loading the songs onto the micro SD card using a dynex memory card reader/writer.

Re: LG Shine Music Player Indexing Problem

I was having the same problem with my LG env2. I even went as far as renaming the songs on the sd cardand when I would put it back in my phone, sometimes it would show up with a track number. I bought a data cable on Amazon.com and I no longer have any problems.I use Windows Media player and click on "Sync". Connect data cable to computer, then to your phone. When your phone has been recognized, drag the music you want on there from your library to the right. Click "Start Sync". The music should go on your phone as you want it. It does on mine.

    Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately, I've done what you said, and still no dice.

Part of the problem may be that when I sync the songs WMP (I'm using WMP11) puts them into a folder called "Music" that the phone does not recognize (it looks for music in the folder "my_music"). I can move them from there manually, but then I get the same problem. Do you know if it's possible to get WMP11 to put the files in the right folder? Do you think that would help?

    Thanks again.

I am using WMP 11 also. When you said that you have done what I said, does that mean you have tried using the data cable? Like I said, I was having the same problem when I was trying to put music directly on to my sd card. As soon as I did the same process and just used the data cable to transfer music to the card, my problem was solved.

If by data cable, you mean the cable that plugs directly into the phone, and into a USB port, then yes. The phone came with one.
