so I went to cingular to have it replaced and they said that this was wear and tear and it wasnt covered under warrenty
that it would be covered under insurance which I dont have
cos when I got the fon they wouldnt insure it cos of its price

My keypad was peeling also.
I picked up a new keypad on ebay, cost less then $20.00 shipped from Hong Kong.
You will also need the correct tools, I also picked up a tool kit for the RAZR on ebay, again less then $20.00 shipped from Hong Kong.
Now the fun begins, in the process of changing the keypad face plate, the number 3 and 4 buttons became stuck and all the phone would do is dial 3's and 4's. The face plate is held in place with 6 bend-over tabs, the only way the access them is from the back of the phone. You need the tool kit as it contains the small tools required to get the back plate off.
The phone had been dropping calls so I called and got a warranty exchange, with the new face plate the phone showed no "wear or damage"
I do believe Motorola has a problem with the keypad material, I tried to talk to them about it and I got no response what-so-ever, all they kept saying was there have been no warranty issues with the keypad.
That is a true statement because they won't accept any issues relating to the keypad.
