Hey guys, I could really use some help here.

Well, I've bought the Motorola KRZR K1 a few days ago, I installed the Mobile Phone Tools program (still updating it), and, well, it seems that there is no option on this program to upload games to my cellphone?

And I don't think it has anything to do with the updates, because I've looked on the program on another computer which had all the updates - and there were options to transfer pictures, ringtones and all that, but games/applications - No.

If someone here has the KRZR K1, or actually any other Motorola phone, please help me and tell me how did you put games in your phone?

    Thanks,
    Tomeron.

I don't think that games are supported through file transfer. I'm almost positive, or atleast have never heard of it.

You can use MPT, file transfer mode, download .jar files directly to phone. I do it all the time. Once jar file is onboard, just follow phone prompts to install. Midway is not required to install java games on this phone.

    Hey dude,

There's no option to transfer games on MPT.

There IS a file transfer option, but when I try to transfer .jar files it just says unsupported media file, or something like that.

    Help, anyone?

I'm trying to help you, "Dude"..... Im telling you that you CAN transfer jar files to your phone using MPT. Not all folders on your phone tree can support jar files. Try transfering to a different folder. It does work. I have NEVER received any error message when transfering jars to my phone.

Re: Games on Motorola KRZR K1

    Hey,
Thanks for the help. Seems I was too stupid to realize that I can't put a jar file in the root file.

But now my problem is that I don't know in which folder I need to pur my .jar file.
I tried in most of them, but I don't know which one is the Application window (And no, there's no folder called "Applications" XD ). Whatever folder I tried to put the .jar in, I couldn't find it in my phone.

What folder are you putting your .jar in?

    Thanks,
    Tomeron

You're welcome. First of all, there are people on forums saying that you can't use MPT to download Java games to the KRZR. They say that the program Midlet Mananger is what you need. This is simply untrue. By default, the KRZR will not allow you to transfer jar files to phone memory, BUT, it will allow you to download to your micro SD card. I'm assuming you have a micro sd card. If you don't, get one. Under mobile phone, you will see 4 folders. Audio, MMC(removable), picture, and video. Double click MMC, double click mobile folder, double click video folder. This is the folder where you will transfer your .jar file to. Do the transfer. Now, On your KRZR, main menu, my stuff, games & apps, [install new]. When you select "install new", you should see your game there. Click on it and follow the prompts. That is all you need to do. That....and have fun!

    Hey,

Well, I don't know what's a micro SD card. Are you talking about a memory card? because I do have an MMC.

The problem is that I go to the folder MMC(Removable), then mobile, and the only folder I have there is skins.

Thanks a lot for helping, but what's my problem?? :S :S

A microSD card is simply the type of removable memory card that many cell phones use, including our Motos. The reason you do not have a video folder within the memory card is probably due to not having videos on your card yet. If you have any videos on your phone, they are probable in phone memory. I would switch your storage options to the card. Anyway, having said that, have you tried to transfer the jar to any folder on the card? You didn't say.....

    Meh.

First of all, even after I filmed a video to my storage card (and I actually did it before), there was still no folder "video" on my "mobile" folder. Only skins.
After looking around, I found that the videos I did were actually in MMC(Removable)/motorola/shared/video.

    So I tried three things:
    a)Install the game on motorola/shared/video
b)Make a new folder "video" on mobile folder
c)I found that there were 2 folders under MMC(Removable)/motorola/browser/user - "game" and "java". I tried installing there too.

But now, came the real problem.

You said, "Now, On your KRZR, main menu, my stuff, games & apps, [install new]".
First of all - I had no "My Stuff" on the main menu.
I did have "Games & Apps" on my main menu. so I looked and looked, but there was no "Install New" option.

Am I just stupid or something? Because it seems like I don't get 1 small detail here.. :S

This could be tricky. Sounds like we have different firmware on our krzrs. I am with Cingular. Your KRZR is either unlocked, or you have a different provider. But anyway, it shouldn't matter. Most important thing is to get the jars on your phone. I played around a bit with file transfer, and got your error message whenever I tried to transfer to phone memory, but it allowed me to transfer to MMC every time. The "games & Apps" selection should have some sort of "install" option. On mine I have to scroll down to the end. It did not show on first view.

Re: Games on Motorola KRZR K1

    Hey,

Ok, so here is how it goes.
I guess we have a different firmware version, because I have no option to install a new application.

My brother has a K3, and he showed me the option to Install New, but I don't have that option.

I'll just tell you all the options I have [XD] :

-MobileShop - Obviously not what we're looking for.
    -Navigator - GPS
    -Settings -
*Order applications - Set the order of the apps, as in who's first, who's second etc.
*Move applications - Move apps which are alredy installed (only my GPS) from a folder (i.e. Main Menu) to another (i.e. Fun).
*Manage Apps - I didn't really get how this relates, when I click it my only optioin is "System Info", which when I click shows me information about.. the system XD
*Main Menu View - The way the icons will be shown
    *Screen Savers
    *Air Time Warnings
    *View Log

    -Help

That's all I have on my "Games & Apps" on the main menu.

I have no idea what is the problem. I don't think it has to do with the provider (I'm not on Cingular), because it doesn't affect anything on your phone itself. (I think XD)

Here's some information on my phone (I didn't find a firmware version there, so I'll just put some other information, I hope one of them will be the firmware):

    ESN: 1BEFFB93
    Technology: Dual 800/1900 CDMA 1x-EVDO
    S/W Version: 24.5_01.09.HA

Hope that helps you in any means to help me...

    Thanks,
    Tomeron.

Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know if my cellphone is unlocked. Does it matter?

I live in Israel and my provider is called Pelephone, I don't think that it's international, only in Israel.

    But does it really matter?

    Thanks,
    Tomeron
