The subject pretty much says it all. I just bought a new RAZR M (yeah, I know it's not state of the art; so sue me) and I want to donate my old Motorola w285. However, I (obviously) want to purge it of everything first, including my phone number. How do I do this?

    Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention that this is an old Verizon phone. I've heard that Verizon has deleted the user ability to do a master reset on their phones and that you have to take it to a Verizon dealer. Is this correct?

I'm not sure about Verizon removing the ability to do a reset, but try this:

    1. Tap Menu
    2. Tap Settings
    3. Tap Security
    4. Enter your 4 digit unlock code. (Default 1234, 0000, or last 4 digits of your phone number)
    5. Tap Done
    6. Tap Restore Phone
    7. Tap Yes when prompted with the following message "Permanently Erase All User Data & Reset Settings To Factory Defaults?"

This sequence of options is not available on my W385.

Are you trying to restore your settings back to the factory settings? if thats the case its
    master reset
Reset all options except unlock code, security code,
    and lifetime timer:
Settings > Initial Setup > Master Reset
To reset all options, you need to enter the Security Code
    (000000).
