    Can anyone help me out?

All my contacts on my phone (SPVC500) were a mess so I synced to
Outlook, sorted everything out in there and then tried to sync my
personal contacts back (after having deleted all my contacts from the
SPV). Activesync was set to "leave conflicting items unresoved" and I,
obviously, only asked it to sync those tagged as personal.

I set it running and watch somewhat anxiously as all the contacts
disappeared from the screen in Outlook. Unfortunately it seems they
didn't reach the SPV and are no longer in Outlook. Does anyone know
WTF has just happened to me?

    TIA

Yep. It just synced all the deletions. Like it's meant to.

Piss. So I suppose I'm stuffed.

I've got a backup somewhere at work. How can I get it to override the
phone with the entries from the PC?

    TIA.

UPDATE: "fortunately" it just dumped them in the recycle bin. I
retrieved them, deleted the associations with the phone on activesync
and it happily did what I wanted it to do in the first place.....

When you sync for the first
time you create a relationship between each single contact on your SPV
and on Outlook. So by syncing, then deleting from the SPV you also
    instantly delete them from outlook.

What you should have done was synced to outlook, then exported your
contacts to a CSV in case of failure. If any disasters then you simply
re-load your contacts from the CSV. Doesn't help you this time I know.
Are your deleted contacts in deleted items in outlook? Probably not bur
    worth a look.

Once you've backed up at work, delete the partnership on your phone and
on activesync on your PC and start again. When the choice comes choose
"combined the items on my device with the items on this computer".

Once your contacts are in outlook, tidy them up and then export them to
    CSV before syncing again.

I made another folder in my contacts that I hold a copy of my contacts
in for just such 'activesync' problems
