Hi Guys,
I now have 14 out-of-contract 'Orange' phones (we have moved to
Vodafone), most of which will be sent to a charity for recycling, but
one (A Motorola V600) is going to be kept by the user as a personal
phone and I have set them up with a Vodafone PAYT SIM.
Orange want £20 to give me the SIM unlock code and were not interested
in budging from this (probably because they have just lost all our
business!) so what's the best option if Orange remain stubborn - do the
'download my software and use a USB cable' products work?
Thanks

they do, but can be a bit fiddly to get going
if you have the cable email me and i'll give you a credit free to unlock it
seeing as you are sending some to charity (before everyone wants them

Not on the V600. You will have to send/take it somewhere to be done with
the correct equipment.

Many thanks for the offer - sadly I've not got the cable so it looks
like coughing up £20 to Orange or telling the owner to get themselves a
new phone from Vodafone - they start at £30 ISTR anyway.

Get it done for between £10 & £15 at a local market, car boot sale or mobile
shop.
